{"product_id":"9781908748058","title":"Walks in the Vale of Clwyd","description":"The Vale of Clwyd in Denbighshire is a beautiful area of North Wales, lying between the border and Snowdonia. It is an excellent walking area and easily accessible from the A55 expressway. The lush green Vale, which takes its name from the river Clwyd flowing through its length, nestles between the Clwydian Range and gently rolling hills in the west. The Vale starts as a narrow enclosed river valley, then broadens into a fertile plain, passing the historic market towns of Denbigh and Ruthin, then the small cathedral city of St Asaph to meet the coast at Rhyl.\nIt is the historical gateway into the hinterland of North Wales and, during the Middle Ages, became a contested borderland, subject to constant changes in influence and control from the Welsh Princes, the powerful Marcher Lords, and English monarchs.\nIn addition to its splendid scenery, the Vale contains a wealth of ancient and medieval sites, buildings and other treasures. These include Iron-Age settlements, the smallest cathedral in England and Wales, castles, unique double-naved churches with intricately carved roofs, holy wells, and many fine houses of historical or architectural interest.\nThe 26 circular walks in this book explore the Vale’s attractive countryside and history. There are walks alongside rivers, through wooded valleys, along limestone crags, across undulating farmland and low rolling hills. They visit its towns and villages, and many places of interest, including old country inns. Sadly a few have closed in recent years so please try to support those featured in a walk. The routes, which range from 2¼ to 8¼ miles, follow public rights of way or permissive paths and are within the capability of most people. A key feature is that most individual routes, as well as containing shorter walk options, can easily be linked with others, to provide longer day walks, if required.","brand":"David Berry","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52492985008392,"sku":"9781908748058","price":5.95,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0945\/8519\/2712\/files\/9781908748058.jpg?v=1770799321","url":"https:\/\/www.ffolio.wales\/products\/9781908748058","provider":"ffolio.wales","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
