{"product_id":"9781902302638","title":"Walks Around Aberystwyth and Cwm Rheidol","description":"Aberystwyth has long been associated with holidays and holiday makers, some of whom venture inland on the Vale of Rheidol Railway. However, for others who venture on foot there is a plethora of beautiful walks. Sessile oak trees add a feeling of eccentricity to many of these with their contorted trunks and branches. This area has some of the most beautiful waterfalls, rivers and streams in Wales, all of which have had much written about them. Pumlumon too, is easily reached and makes a fine walk with the remote valleys to the north of it being the scene of many a battle in the days of Owain Glyndwˆr. Much of the scenery remains today as described by George Borrow in his excellent book Wild Wales in 1862.\nThe area has been mined for lead and other minerals, including silver, since Roman times, with many of the mines still visible with their spoil heaps, ruined buildings and artefacts littering the hillsides – ‘The Stag’ above Cwm Rheidol being noteworthy. Needless to say ALL the mines are dangerous and MUST NOT be entered, due to crumbling rock and the quicksand nature of many of the adit floors. \nWhatever your level of fitness you will find, in these pages, walks to suit all abilities and tastes. Although an estimated time is given it depends, obviously, on how many rests you have, as well as the speed of your walking.","brand":"Des Marshall","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52079449768200,"sku":"9781902302638","price":5.95,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0945\/8519\/2712\/files\/9781902302638.jpg?v=1770799255","url":"https:\/\/www.ffolio.wales\/products\/9781902302638","provider":"ffolio.wales","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
