Ellis Wynne, 1671-1734, was a rector, poet, translator and royalist, but he’s primarily known as the author of Gweledigaethau y Bardd Cwsg which was first published in London in 1703.
Roedd Ellis Wynne, 1671-1734, yn reithor, yn fardd, yn gyfieithydd ac yn frenhinwr ond mae'n fwy adnabyddus fel awdur Gweledigaethau y Bardd Cwsg a gyhoeddwyd gyntaf ym 1703. Caiff y Bardd Cwsg ei arwain drwy dair weledigaeth lle mae'n dilyn taith pechaduriaid ar eu ffordd i uffern. Mae yma ddychymyg gwreiddiol a dychan brathog ac mae'r cwbl wedi ei ysgrifennu mewn iaith sy'n gwbl naturiol ac yn adlewyrchu iaith lafar Meirionnydd ar droad y 18fed ganrif.Mae'r gyfrol hon yn cynnwys tri llyfr, yn ogystal a Gweledigaethau y Bardd Cwsg a olygwyd gan D. Silvan Evans mae dau gyfieithiad Saesneg, The Visions of the Sleeping Bard gan Gwyneddon Davies a The Sleeping Bard gan George Borrow.
